This design is a combination of symbols of the Norse Father - God, Odin.

The center is the "Valknut", three interlocking triangles that are known as the "Knot of the Fallen Warrior". However, Odin is not a God of War, but a God of Inspiration. He bestowed an inspiration to fight. He is a God of Magic, Consciousness and the Arts.

The runes in the top border are "Man" and "Yr," Life and Death respectively. In the centre is the Tyr, or Warrior Rune. This imparts Eternal Life through Reincarnation, and eliminates fear of Death.

The runes along the bottom border spell "Valhal" - the Hall of the Slain, the Nordic Heaven. The rune at the apex of the pyramid is 'Odal', signifying the Magical Enclosure, which contains Protective Energies. It is said that as "berserkers" lay dying they would carve these runes on their breasts as a last gesture to Odin.

In the Northern Tradition, our "plane of existence" is referred to as "the battlefield". Many Norse legends refer not to the mindless bloody slaughters but are talking about the journey of Consciousness through Life, transcending the Ego and mastering ones Will.

The symbol on the back is three interlocked drinking horns. The top border contains runes, which mean the Gift of Consciousness, the Cosmic Breath and the Power of Creativity through Word and Song. Making this design a wonderful Amulet for Poets Writers and Singers.

The Gar rune in the centre is symbolic of "Gungnir," Odin's Magical Spear.

Black cord option comes with an approx. 36 inch or 91.44 cm cord and a (lead free) pewter accent bead with laminated ends.

Chain option comes with a 2 mm flat link stainless steel chain of either 18 , 20 , 22 inch standard length or a 18 inch chain with an extension up to 4 inches ( 22 inch total ) in length for more flexibility and a lead free pewter accent bead. Wear them with or without bead!
