Unlike ground squirrels or chipmunks, tree squirrels have no fur markings, but rather, are notable for their long and bushy tails. Tree squirrels are diurnal, active during daylight hours. Because they do not hibernate, they are readily seen all year long. Tree squirrels are scatter-hoarders; they collect nuts and seeds, hiding them in scattered places, often burying their cache. By burying seeds and nuts, and by eating potentially destructive insects, tree squirrels play a crucial role in forest regeneration.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off.
