Once hunted for its extravagant feather plumes, the snowy egret now enjoys a broad range across the Americas. The snowy egret can be identified by its dagger-shaped black bill, black legs, yellow feet, and all-white plumage. The snowy forages in shallow freshwater and saltwater, for small fish, crustaceans, worms, snails, snakes, and insects. In the late 1800s, the snowy's plumes fetched $32 per ounce, more than the price for an ounce of gold at that time.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
