The dark-coloured markings on a snow leopards coat are called rosettes, and they uniquely identify each individual. With its stocky body, snowshoe-like paws, and heavily furred tail, the snow leopard is ideally suited to its habitat. High altitude, cold climate, and remote and hostile terrain hinder research of these rare and reclusive cats. Snow leopards are endangered by poaching for pelts and organs (used in Chinese medicine), and by loss of habitat.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
