Sea stars (or starfish) are not fish at all, but echinoderms with bodies often shaped like the five points of a star. Sea stars have no brain, but they can sense touch, light, and temperature. Having no blood, they circulate sea water. In defence, a sea star can break off an arm to distract a predator, make its getaway, and then later regrow that arm. To eat a clam, the sea star pushes its stomach through its mouth, and into the clams shell, where it digests the clam.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
