The sea otter has the densest coat in the animal kingdom. It has 250,000 - 1,000,000 hairs per square inch of fur. Although not endangered, sea otters are threatened by habitat and food loss, pollution, disease, and fishing entrapment. Sea otters are the only otters to give birth in water. The pups rely upon their mothers for their first eight months. Mother otters hide their young in sea kelp, letting the pups float like bobbing corks while they go off to hunt for food.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
