Sandhill cranes live in open grasslands and prairies. During breeding season, they nest in marshes, bogs and wet meadows. Sandhills are known for their extravagant courtship dances. They mate for life and remain together throughout the year. Sandhills are the most abundant crane species in the world, often seen migrating southward in flocks of hundreds of birds. Sandhill cranes can fly 200 - 300 miles in a single day, and when soaring with strong tail winds, they can easily cover 500 miles.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
