Rita was married for 18 years to an abusive man. With prayer, she remained a dutiful wife and mother to their sons. After her husband's death, and that of her sons, Rita joined a convent of Augustinian nuns and continued her life of prayer, charity and meditation on Christ's Passion. For 15 years, Rita endured chronic wounds on her forehead that resembled Christ's own wounds from the crown of thorns.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
