At the age of 12, Maximilian a had a vision of the Virgin Mary that profoundly changed his life. He joined the seminary, studied, wrote and produced a magazine and radio show to battle religious apathy. In 1941, the Nazis imprisoned him in Auschwitz. While there, a father with many children was selected for execution as punishment for an escape attempt. Maximilian volunteered and was killed in his place.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
