Patron of Dublin, Ireland, blackbirds and a long life.
Kevin was born to nobility of Ireland and known there as Comegen which means gentle ones. He became a hermit in Glendalough and founded the first monastery there. Once, while he held his arms outstretched in silent prayer, a blackbird landed in his open hand, built a small nest and laid its eggs. The gentle hermit held that position in stillness until the fledglings hatched. Reportedly, St Kevin lived to be 120 years old.
The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
