Of the 2 species of rhino in Africa and 3 in Asia, all are listed as endangered, requiring protection to prevent extinction. Although it appears invulnerable, a rhinos skin is very sensitive. Mud baths act as sunscreen and insect repellant. Because they are near sighted, rhinos are easily startled and may charge, reaching speeds up to 40 miles per hour. Rhinos are killed by poachers in an illegal trade for the rhinos horns, which are mistakenly thought to be medicinal.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
