Of all butterflies, only monarchs make the staggering two-way migration each year, often traveling up to 3,000 miles. Millions of migrating monarchs gather in Mexico, covering the trees so densely that branches break from their weight. As larvae, they feed exclusively on milkweed plants, which contain compounds that make the monarchs poisonous. The monarch butterflies brilliant orange wings serve to advertise their toxicity to potential predators.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
