Three species grace the world rivers and coastal waterways: The W. Indian, the Amazonian, and the African manatee. The primary threats to the endangered manatees are human related: hunting, habitat loss, and fatalities from watercraft. Unique among mammals for having only molars, the manatee is the only plant-eating marine mammal on Earth. Seafaring lore abounds with sailors tales of mermaids most likely manatees or dugongs (a Pacific Ocean relative).

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.

Chain option comes with a 2 mm flat link stainless steel chain of either 18 , 20 , 22 inch standard length or a 18 inch chain with an extension up to 4 inches ( 22 inch total ) in length for more flexibility and a lead free pewter accent bead. Wear them with or without bead!
