Kirtland's will only nest at the bases of young jack pine trees, where the trees are 5-16 feet tall and spaced to admit sunlight. Cowbirds often destroy warbler eggs, laying their own eggs in the nest, which the warblers unwittingly raise as their own. Kirtland's migrate over 1500 miles from the Great Lakes region to overwinter in the Bahamas. Although their numbers are recovering, Kirtland's warblers may always require human protection and habitat management.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
