Native to East Asia, Europe, and Africa, hedgehogs are named for their pig-like foraging habits and pig-grunt sounds. Farmers and home gardeners appreciate the little mammal because it eats the insects that damage crops and flowers. A hedgehogs quills are just stiff hairs with no poison or barbs. Quills sprout just 2 - 3 days after the hedgehog is born. A hedgehogs only defence is to roll into a tight ball, tucking in its head, limbs and tail presenting nothing but its spines.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
