The Omega stood for many things in the ancient greek world. It was a letter, a syllable and a number 800. The globular cluster, Omega Centuari has Omega included in its name. Mathematically it is the maximum limit to set. Most importantly, Omega means the end, the last. It was also be found on some Ancient Spartan Shields as a warning to their enemies letting them know that 'the end is near'.

In modern times, it has been popularized by the God of War video game, as a Symbol of Ares; The God of War. Omegas, in social terms are outsiders, notable for distinction and do not conform to existing peer hierarchies.
