Charles Rennie Mackintosh applied simple decoration, often in the form of a rose, to his designs. He believed in minimalist design, but with some limited decoration. The name Art Nouveau is French for new art. Art Nouveau was a style of distinct individuals such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh who interpreted it in their own manner.
