A chickadee is readily identified by its distinctive black cap, white eye patch, black bib, and chickadee-dee-dee song. Chickadees usually reuse abandoned nest cavities in trees, cleaning and then relining them with moss and bits of fur. Native American folktales associate the chickadee with boldness, speaking the truth, and trusting ones inner strength. A chickadees diet is about 70% insects and 30% seeds and berries. They are known to cache or store their food.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
