The bobwhite (called quail or partridge by hunters) is a ground-dwelling bird that lives in fields and woodland edges. About the size and shape of a small chicken, its call is said to sound like it is saying bob-white, bob-white. When danger is near, a female will pretend to be injured, drawing attention to herself so that her chicks can escape. Bobwhite population is affected primarily by availability of food, escape cover, adequate habitat, and animal predation.

The unique making process of these porcelain pendants allows for more detail in designs than other mediums. These designs are fired into the clay at 2200 degrees, so they will not peel or wear off. Each piece is surprisingly lightweight.
